I’m back with a beauty update for lipstick. If you’ve been following my blog, you know I wasn’t big on wearing makeup. Here and there I would wear lipstick and eyeliner from the dollar store. Why put time and money into something I just didn’t have much interest in.
Learning about makeup and how to wear it is now a part of my journey, and I’ve been on the hunt for matte lipstick. After searching long and hard, I decided to give COLOURPOP a try first. I ordered only one lipstick in the color Tulle as I wanted to see if this was a matte lipstick that I like. I received my order in a few days and was mega happy with the results. OMG Fabs, I’m so in love with this lipstick. It was only $6, and I was so impressed with how smooth it is on the lips and that it lasted all day. My lips didn’t crack or feel dry so of course I wanted more colors. I came across another website that are selling COLOURPOP lipsticks for $1. I’m now thinking, wow, what a lucky lady I am to have found a website that sells these COLOURPOP lipsticks I now love for just $1. So again I ordered only one lipstick from this other website in the color Avenue. For some reason a little voice inside me kept saying this is too good to be true so just get one.
Well, you know that little voice; I should have listened to it. Fabs, this $1 lipstick is not the same kind, like, and quality that I ordered from the COLOURPOP.COM website. I’m so disappointed and not so lucky after all! After about five minutes of wearing the $1 lipstick, it was sticky to my lips and already fading away. Not to mention this horrid smell that made me nauseous. The COLOURPOP lipstick I got from the COLOURPOP website hardly has a scent.
I’m not a naive person, and I am basically new to makeup, but how are companies able to sell you what appears to be an immitation with the COLOURPOP label on it? This is just not right, and I am informing the ones who may not have known to be aware of what makeup you’re buying.
I won’t list the website that I purchased the $1 lipstick from, but I will just like to say if you’re not ordering it directly from COLOURPOP.com, then assume you may not be getting the real deal. This is just my humble opinion, and I’m just thankful I only spent $1.
Hear are a couple of pictures of the lipsticks. If you look closely you can even see the differences in the fonts on the lipstick bottles as well as the packaging. The Tulle color is from COLOURPOP’s website, and the Avenue is from another website.
If you have any favorite matte lipsticks, please comment below. I’m trying to find more of the good stuff. I’ve heard The Lip Bar Matte Liquid Lipstick is a great buy, so I’ll be checking that one out next.
Thanks for stopping by,
